As a collective of sector practitioners and experts, African Project Solutions supports organisations across the Southern African development ecosystem to design, manage and implement effective responses to some of the region’s most pressing social, environmental and economic challenges.
Our team of associates provide end-to-end strategic and operational project support, including strategy development, multi-country programme management, organisational capacity development, and designing and facilitating learning and change processes. Our work spans the full project lifecycle — from concept development and funding acquisition to implementation, coordination, learning and adaptive management.
APS has extensive experience in international donor-funded project management and programme design and delivery, often working across multiple countries and institutional contexts. We collaborate closely with policymakers, civil-society organisations, non-profits, research institutions and implementation partners, providing both strategic direction and hands-on management support.

AFD Group Campus (French Development Agency), the training center of Agence Française de Développement, is dedicated to building collective knowledge, sharing experience and honing the skills needed to design and implement policies or projects with a high impact on social and ecological transitions in developing countries. APS designed and implemented the Biodiversity Partners Program (BiPP), an innovative seven-month learning programme that aims to support entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in refining their pro-nature businesses or projects.
GIZ-funded Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture and Agroecology (KHSA) in Southern Africa project; a collaborative country-led partnership that aims to scale up the adoption of agroecological and organic farming practices. APS partnered with the South-Africa based Sustainability Institute to oversee implementation in Zambia, Malawi, Namibia and South Africa.
African Food Fellowship, coordinated by Wageningen University & Research and Wasafiri Consulting supported by IKEA Foundation, aims to support the transformation of food systems across the African continent. APS developed case studies practical examples of network and systems leadership in the African context.
African Climate Foundation, supports interventions at the nexus of climate change and development that will deliver long-term socioeconomic transformation and inclusive development in Africa. APS forms part of the African Food Systems Transformation Collective that aims to establish and develop a network of researchers to generate evidence-based work that will inform philanthropic donor organisations on more coherent donor strategies to promote transition of African food systems towards sustainability, justice and resilience.


Angela Coetzee brings over 15 years experience in international development, specialising in programme design, organisational development, entrepreneurial education, food systems transformation and sustainability across African contexts. She has led and contributed to research, strategy and consulting initiatives that develop practical, context-responsive solutions to complex social, ecological and economic challenges. She is known for her ability to think strategically, navigate complexity and bring together diverse stakeholders around collaborative and systems-oriented approaches to change. Angela holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University and supervises Master’s students at the Centre for Sustainable Transitions.


Francois Pretorius is a futures researcher and strategic foresight expert focused on skills development and equitable energy transitions in Africa. His work combines futures literacy, systems thinking, and participatory facilitation to support inclusive, forward-looking policy and strategy. He has coordinated regional and national foresight initiatives, including youth-led futures work across East and Southern Africa and a national project to strengthen TVET–industry linkages for a just energy transition. Francois previously served as a Futures Fellow with the UNDP Strategy and Futures team in New York. He holds an MPhil in Futures Studies (cum laude) and a BA in Value and Policy Studies, both from Stellenbosch University.


Gihan is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience across the private and non-profit sectors. He specialises in financial oversight, donor compliance, reporting, and governance for complex multi-stakeholder projects, ensuring integrity and accountability throughout implementation. He is a qualified member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA), he holds a BCom degree from Stellenbosch University.


Isadora is the ultimate organiser and has a service oriented personality with a fine eye for detail. Isadora is a seasoned professional in international development events and conferencing and has a rich of understanding the travel realities of the Southern African context. She has a trusted reputation for individualised attention to travellers and workshop participants needs, whilst meeting client objectives with distinction.


is a senior Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) specialist with over 20 years of experience working across development and humanitarian contexts. She has held senior leadership and technical advisory roles with organisations including UNICEF, UN Women, UNDP, Oxfam and the Norwegian Red Cross.From 2017 to 2020, Lara served as Regional Gender Advisor for UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office, supporting country programmes across diverse development and emergency settings. Her expertise includes gender and social inclusion audits, gender-responsive strategy and M&E, institutional strengthening, humanitarian action and gender-transformative programming, with experience spanning Africa, the Middle East and Asia.


Llewellyn Fredericks is a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) and impact investment executive with over 15 years’ experience in fund governance, portfolio management and catalytic capital structuring across Africa. He has held senior leadership roles at E Squared Investments and Innovation Edge, leading complex transactions and strengthening governance frameworks. He brings deep expertise in blended finance and fund architecture, supporting organisations to navigate complex capital decisions with rigour and clarity.


Louise is a seasoned project manager with extensive experience in international development and the environmental services sector, having worked with international, local and multi-partner actors across Asia, Europe and Africa. She specialises in community-based adaptation, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reflection and Learning (MERL), research, sustainable agriculture, training and capacity building. She has a strong interest in gender-transformative and gender-responsive development approaches, particularly in relation to community resilience, participation and inclusive development processes. Her approach to development work is grounded in responsive, contextually relevant and locally designed processes that prioritise participation, learning and long-term sustainability. Louise holds a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology (cum laude) from the University of Edinburgh.


Rabecca Mwila is a climate communicator and advocate for sustainable agriculture and environmental justice. With a background in climate change and communications, she amplifies the untold stories of how climate impacts vulnerable communities across Africa. Her work bridges science, policy, and community voices to drive meaningful, people-centred climate action.


Stefanie is a strategic researcher, writer and learning designer with over three decades experience in communications, knowledge production and international development across Africa. Her work focuses on climate resilience, food systems, biodiversity and socio-political dynamics, with particular expertise in translating complex systems-level work into grounded, accessible and decision-relevant knowledge products and learning processes. She has extensive experience managing multi-country and collaborations with international donors, governments and civil society organisations across diverse African contexts. Stefanie is known for her creative and lateral thinking, strong understanding of socio-political realities and her ability to develop contextually grounded, participatory and user-friendly approaches to complex challenges. Stefanie is a co-founder and director of the Mycelium Media Colab cooperative and a director of African Earth Rights. Stefanie holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University.
